[Of Wind and Flame] Rivercrossing.
You were born on the 15th day of the 9th month of Dolefaren the Brigantine (ship) in the year of the Golden Panther, 352 years after the victory of Lanival the Redeemer.
Suruli was born to gypsies of Dragon Clan. Her parents were very young- just starting to make a name for their wares. As did most of their people, they usually spent their time traveling town to town in Therengia. However, with another mouth to feed they decided shortly after Suruli’s birth to expand south.
They wheeled their caravan off the ferry and turned down the Northern Trade Route. They hadn’t made it far when the Greater Fist erupted. Lava and fiery boulders crashed all around them. Their caravan was destroyed almost immediately. Thinking quickly her father unhooked the horses from the flaming wreckage. He cried out to Damaris to protect his child as he lifted his wife onto one of the near panicked horses. Suruli was held tightly to her chest. Her father lept onto the other horse and led his family south again.
The horses galloped until foam flew off their coats, their eyes white with terror. They ran until they came to the temple at the Rivercrossing. Suruli was too young to notice then but both of her parents were gravely wounded, their road weary bodies had been pelted by fiery rocks. They left Suruli at the temple with the first friendly face they found- the gardener. Then they left to seek healing. She never saw them again.
A young empath who had attempted to help her parents took her in, raising her with the help of those within the temple. The gardens there were her playground throughout her childhood. Her parents had died before telling anyone their names or the location of their homes, though it was evident by their attire and their horses that they were gypsies.
Near dusk one day while playing in the garden, Suruli picked up a leaf. Gazing intently at the leaf, a small wisp of smoke gently rose from her hand. Just a brief moment later the attention of all nearby was caught by a bright flash as the leaf was quickly consumed by flames.
